Message from the Chair
It’s very nearly CHEIA AGM time (04 November, see below) and like last year this will be a virtual meeting rather than in-person at conference. It’s the time each year when the Chair, Treasurer and Northern and Southern representatives for the year are elected.
After a lengthy spell, I am stepping down from the CHEIA Executive at the AGM. I joined the Executive as the Northern Region elected representative in 2007 and I’ve been on the Executive ever since – with two spells as Chair and one as Vice-Chair. Thank you very much for having me, it’s been an honour and a pleasure.

CHEIA Conference 2021 – Thank you for joining us
Special thanks to everyone who attended the CHEIA virtual Conference in September. Nearly 50% of those who attended have since provided us feedback, with some great comments, which we have shared on the website. The slides are now available on the website, but only those who attended the event will be able to access that section.
CHEIA AGM and Elections 2021 – 4 November 2021
This year’s Annual General Meeting will take place on 4 November 2021, by 10 am. It will be a virtual event so please register on the website to receive the link to join the meeting. As with previous AGMs, you will get a chance to receive the Chair’s and Treasurer’s reports respectively, and we will be electing and announcing the new Executive.
We do require a quorum for our AGM, so please show your support for CHEIA and join us.
CHEIA Bitesize Events
We have another Bitesize Session for you, by 11 am on 4 November 2021, after the AGM. ‘Lessons from a Cyber Incident’ will be jointly presented by Jason Thurlbeck, Head of Internal Audit, University of the Highlands and Islands and Peter Sheppard, Deputy Director, ICT Audit and Cyber Assurance, TIAA. Please register on the website if you wish to join this session.
Practitioners’ Group
The Practitioners’ Group which kicked off in June 2021 is going from strength to strength. Anyone who is not the Head of Internal Audit is welcome to join. Currently, the group meets – virtually - on the first Wednesday of each month and the next one is on 3 November 2021. You can reach out to the conveners via the CHEIA discussion Board or send a message to the CHEIA Administrator on contact@cheia.ac.uk and it will be forwarded to them.
