Student mental health and wellbeing has become an area of increasing concern for universities, with the numbers of students declaring a mental health condition more than doubling in the last five years. Whilst the suicide rate amongst students has actually fallen since the 1990’s, there has been significant media interest in this in recent years, which has drawn attention to the actions universities are taking to address this risk. This session will take a look at some of the issues facing universities in relation to student mental health and wellbeing and their responsibilities for this under existing legislation.
